The Best Surfing Destinations In America

To kick things off on your surfing holiday, you cannot be in the states without heading to Cocoa Beach, Florida. You have to time you visit correctly, but if you do you can enjoy some spectacular surf. Go in summer and your surf trip might end up being a wash out, with you spending more time paddling about than you do riding. Visit in winter however and it will be a different story. You can get swells of around 10ft in winter and the sets are a whole lot more reliable this time of year. The surf is some of the safest around and the area has a great party vibe going on. This makes it very popular with beginner surfers and people after a but of fun. If you're after the best surf possible, make sure you visit between November and March

Secondly, it would be criminal not to visit the iconic place where surfing was born. Hawaii has long been known as a surfing paradise. Mainly because it's home to some of the best and largest waves on earth but also because it embraces surfing so openly.  It’s so steeped in surfing history that you would not be blamed for grabbing some wetsuits and spending your whole time in the water, however also visiting historic sites, talking to locals about surfboards, or checking out the thousands of surfboards on sale is also recommended. Well, maybe not the whole time, you need to save some to check out the 20ft waves at Oahu or the miles and miles of beautiful surf at Ehukai Beach and Waimea Beach. Pure Bliss

Last but not certainly not least, no American surf holiday would be complete without experiencing the “surf city” and land of board shorts, Huntington USA.  The sun never seems to set on this place and it attracts great surfers like moths to a flame. There are frequently surf events and competitions going on here and you're very likely to see a few faces from the surfing celebrity group. It can get a little on the busy side however, there were eleven million visitors last year. So if you don’t like crowds then stick to the winter months, the surf is just as good.
