Five Great Places To Visit While Holidaying In Wales (Part 1)

Castles
This county has many fabulous castles and amazing fortresses, some originating in the Middle Ages. This county can claim rightly to be the place with the most romantic castles on this Island, with Conway and Caernavon the best examples.

Scenic Rail Journeys
One fun way of seeing the best of the countryside and stunning views, is to take a trip on one of the vintage railways. Wales offers some of the most romantic and stimulating scenery on a journey through the mountains at the famous Ffetiniog Mountain railway. If you are likely to be travelling to Cardiff, you have to go to Merthyr Tydfil and take a trip on the Brecon Railway.

Beaches
The coastline surrounding Cardiff has a surprising number of idyllic sandy beaches and is extremely popular during warm summer days. Llantwit Major, Penarth and fun loving Barry are pretty seaside resorts. They have great beaches and are blue flag approved for safety. They all also of quiet escapes from some of the large city areas, with little coves and bay waiting to be discovered.

Cardiff Nightlife
Cardiff is famed as a great place for a night out, appealing to anyone who likes a party and a drink and all night entertainment. St Mary's Street is the most famous night spot, and can claim nearly 50 pubs and restaurants to visit. Mermaid Quay is another lively quarter which houses bohemian waterfront cafe bars, live music and stylish late night clubs.

Millennium Centre
The Millennium Centre is the famous centre piece of Welsh artistic achievement, and proserous area for Cardiff. It is home to the Welsh National Opera, and a further 6 other artistic companies who are performers. It is sleek and modern in design and features a wide variety of cultural and populist entertainment. There are permanent art exhibitions and regular events for children.
