A Few Ideas About Different Top Island Vacations For Your Consideration
These thoughts on top island vacations is really only about tiny islands, mostly with only one resort. We feel that's what top island vacations should be about and we hope you'll be entertained by our selection.
Our starting point is a tiny island off the Sri Lankan coast called Taprobane Island. Just imagine your own two acre island sitting off the south western coast of Sri Lanka, not far from Galle, and near enough to the shore to be able to enjoy all that exploring Sri Lanka has to offer. It is essentially a villa with 5 bedrooms, all ensuite each with its own private outside area, excellent for a group of friends, a big family or honeymooners.
It'll take you back to a rather more stylish time, with an octagonally shaped house, a wrap around verandah, a wonderful pool and furnishings which will make you think about the long gone British Empire. There are five staff to pander to your every whim including a security guard. Taprobane is listed as one of the top romantic villas in the world. For more info about Taprobane Island CLICK HERE
We travel from Sri Lanka to Antigua in the Caribbean for our second island paradise. Jumby Bay is to be found on a private island off the coast of Antigua and for a long time has been linked with al that's the very best in vacations. It is home to a collection of luxury homes, estates and villas as well as the resort. The houses and villas can be booked when available as well as the resort, and the accommodation is absolutely spectacular.
The island is lovely and the sea views very special indeed. It is absolutely all inclusive so you literally have to raise a hand to get your glass refilled. To be fair there is not a lot to do, although there are walking trails and naturally there's the Caribbean Sea with its beautiful beaches. The quality of the food is something Jumby is legendary for, and you will not be disappointed. Jumby isn't cheap, nonetheless it is pretty much at the very top of luxury getaways, and perfect for a romantic break.
The Azores as a vacation spot may not have crossed your mind, but it's a still unspoilt group of 9 islands in the middle of the North Atlantic west of Lisbon. If you adore impressive landscapes, wide open empty spaces, wonderful flowering shrubs, tiny peaceful villages, wonderful coves, and unspoiled beaches then you will love the Azores. They are volcanic islands, so that you can go volcano walking, and there are hot springs. You can also go whale watching which is worth visiting the Azores for on its own.
Because of its key position in the North Atlantic there is an amazing history and unique local cutoms to enjoy and take part in. The best thing is few holiday makers so it remains much as it has always been. There are a number of nice Portugese posadas to stay in and the one that you should check out is the Hotel Aldei da Fonte on Pico known for its tower where you can see the whales, its superb food and general comfort. It stands above the sea and is a very traditional Azores building.
