A 2012 Guide To The Best Beaches In Africa
Africa is a continent that is blessed with wonderful beaches all the way from Cape Town, South Africa to Egypt. Whether snorkelling is your thing or perhaps you would like to surf or scuba dive, Africa has it all in abundance. You will find listed below three of the most unique beaches you will find anywhere on the African continent.
Kendwa Beach - Zanzibar
Kendwa beach is usually used as a retreat for many people after taking part in an African safari as well as being a destination that is immensely popular with both gap year travellers and beach lovers a like. This pristine white beach which is plucked of seaweed every day is one of the most stunning beaches anywhere on earth. This is a beach you are truly able to relax on, taking in the sun, listening to the waves lapping on the shore in the background waiting for the moment you can get that picture everybody dream about when the sun finally sets behind the ocean horizon. By night you can spend your evenings lying in your hammock staring up at the starlit sky wishing you never had to move from your drifting slumber. All resorts on Zanzibar are a good second week break from a dusty, sticky Botswana safari.
Boulders Beach - Cape Town
If you are heading out to Southern Africa on a Zambia safari then you must make a trip to the Cape Peninsula, south of Cape Town. Boulders Beach is the only home in Africa to penguins, and it's your chance to get up close and personal with them. You are able to pay and enter a sanctuary created for the penguins, or if you head over to the other side of the car park you are able to enter an area where you are able to roam free with the penguins. My only advice to you would be that you need to ensure you check under your car before you start your engine in case you have an unwanted friend under there.
Tofo Beach - Inhambane
Home to the Whale Sharks of Southern African Tofu beach is located behind a barrage of sand dunes and is a magnificent beach if you are looking for somewhere to surf. Home to wicker bungalows and a whole host of tourists from all walks of life, Tofu really is the place to get the party started.
